LEE CO., GA (WALB) -

Lee County leaders say efforts to ease the strain on taxpayers from Grand Island Golf Course are working.
They got an update from Interim Director Jeremy Morey who says the golf course is running more efficiently and bringing in more revenue.

"We added a driving range back, that's going to help us increase some revenue, increase membership,” said Jeremy Morey, Interim Director of Grand Island Golf Course. “We've added a new PGA professional, Mr. Chris Dixon, he's going to be giving lessons and camps and clinics and just overall atmosphere of the club and how it's ran."

The driving range opened in September.
Morey hopes to make other improvements including attracting more tennis players to bring in more revenue.
