GBI investigating after body found in Sylvester

SYLVESTER, GA (WALB) -

Officials are investigating after a body was found on Sumner Lane in Sylvester Tuesday night.

According to police, someone noticed a body in a vacant house and called 911 around 9 p.m.

GBI are on the scene but are waiting to go into the home until they have a search warrant.

Officials are treating it as a homicide investigation at this time but will not know what happened until they process the scene and evidence.

Police have said that neighbors have given a possible identity of the victim, but it has not been confirmed at this time.

This is a developing story and WALB will update the information as details come in.
