THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

On Tuesday, Folk in South Georgia celebrated Giving Tuesday.

It's a campaign that focuses on the holidays and end of the year giving.

Giving Tuesday is always on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, and black friday shopping is over.

Organizations in South Georgia such as second harvest said it's the perfect time of year to donate money that can help feed families in need.

"After people have had the opportunity to get a lot of their Christmas shopping done, people want to give back. So Giving Tuesday was established, its a great opportunity, you can give very easily," said Eliza McCall, Second Harvest Chief Marketing Officer.

Last year more than 700,000 people donated to non profits in 70 different countries.
