GA sees increase in holiday travel fatalities

One of the busiest Thanksgiving travel periods was also one of the deadliest in Georgia. 

As of Monday night, WALB knew of 20 deaths on Georgia roadways over the holiday weekend.

That's an increase from 14 fatalities last year.

In Southwest Georgia, WALB confirmed four fatalities, two were in Decatur County and two were in Dougherty County where an 8-year-old girl and a Dougherty County Police officer were killed in a car crash

This year's fatalities are on pace to exceed last year's total of 432, which was the highest in about a decade.
