VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

About 8:00 Saturday night, a Valdosta Police Officer pulled over a driver who committed a moving violation, and the officer quickly noticed the aroma of marijuana from the car.

The driver, Christopher Jenkins, 31, was driving without a valid license.

Officers found Marijuana, Methamphetamine, and a stolen firearm which was reported stolen last month. The weapon was fully loaded, within reach of the driver.

"It is important to note that in this case an officer made a somewhat ordinary stop for a traffic infraction while happening upon a convicted felon with a stolen and fully loaded firearm while in the possession of narcotics- in a residential area. This is another example that a Law Enforcement Officer never knows exactly who he or she is pulling over for a seemingly minor traffic violation," said Lieutenant Adam Bembry.

Jenkins was taken to the Lowndes County Jail and faces these charges:

•    Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute (FELONY)
•    Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon (FELONY)
•    Theft by Receiving Stolen Property (FELONY)
•    Possession of Marijuana
•    Several traffic violations
