ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Santa brought his friend the gingerbread man for a family party at one Albany church Sunday afternoon.

The 'Let's Get Ready to Crumble' festival at Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church allowed families to spend the day together.

The church partnered with the Easterseals of Southern Georgia.

Families spent the day decorating gingerbread houses, doing crafts, listening to Christmas stories and writing letters to Santa.

Homemade gingerbread cookies were served.

Santa even came from the North Pole to pay a visit, take pictures with children and collect the letters they wrote.

"They're aren't that many family oriented kind of event that are here. We thought this would be fabulous for Albany to bring this type of festival to bring families here and to bring the families that we serve here, as well," said Teresa Heard, Director of Special Projects.

All of the money raised went to children with disabilities and their families in southwest Georgia.
