While most are at home stuffing their faces and asking for seconds, several high school basketball players are preparing for this Friday's showdown at Monroe high school.
There will be seven schools represented in the 1st annual Monroe High Thanksgiving Shootout, and a total of nine games at the their gym this weekend.
For some teams it will be their first taste of the hardwood this fall.
All four Dougherty County schools are fresh off last weekend's tip-off classic.
The turkey day weekend tournament is expected to build off that momentum, which had Darton state's gym packed from start to finish.
"I expect a packed gym both nights," said Monroe girl's coach Jennifer Acree. "We put the flyer out on Facebook, different outlets on social media. It's being talked about so were expecting standing room only. That would be great."
The tournament starts at 2:00 pm on Friday with five games running through the evening.
Four more follow on Saturday afternoon starting at 3:30 pm.
