ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Albany Police Department wants to keep you safe this holiday season.

Albany Police plans to beef up security around shopping areas including the mall.

Officials recommend residents to shop in pairs and limit the number of shopping bags you carry.

Also when leaving a store, always be mindful of your surroundings.

"And if you're shopping with kids make sure that they know their name, they know their address and make sure they know their phone number. When you get into the mall or a large shopping area, draw up a plan," said APD Corporal Marita Williams.

If residents see anything suspicious, they're encouraged to notify law enforcement.
