ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany Chamber of Commerce is encouraging folks to shop local during the holidays.
Over the Thanksgiving holiday, they say 59 percent of Americans will go shopping.
And out of every $100 spent at one retailer, $68 recirculates in the local economy.
"If you look at the number of the people that will be shopping and you multiply that by the amount of money and the amount of money that then stays within the local economy, the impact is enormous," said Albany Chamber of Commerce President & CEO, Barbara Rivera Holmes.
Officials say local businesses are using social media to promote their products and services. Small business Saturday is next.
