CAMILLA, GA (WALB) -

Folks are stepping up to help make sure families have food to cook for Thanksgiving.

On Tuesday, people picked up free turkeys and collard greens outside the DFACS office in Camilla.

It's a tradition for St. James Missionary Baptist Church.

Pastor Lawrence Knighton said he wants to help families get their Thanksgiving dinner started.

"Its a great feeling, for me to be a blessing, for our church to be a blessing. And again that's really what its all about," said Knighton.

They handed out 250-turkeys today.
