ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Jawaski Kennedy, 22, was convicted on counts of street gang terrorism and conspiracy of aggravated assault in the drive-by shooting incident that left two men dead in 2013.
Judge Stephen Goss sentenced Kennedy to 12 years to serve in prison, and 13 more on probation, Tuesday in Dougherty Superior Court.
He was found not guilty on the other 24 counts, including murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Kennedy was one of five men associated with the Westside Rattlers gang accused of firing as many as 50 shots on Willard Avenue at the homes of Southside Bloods gang members in 2013. William Davis Junior and Desmond Williams were both killed.
Defense attorney Rick Collum said he's not yet sure if Kennedy will want to appeal the two convictions.
Prosecutors expect to try the other four suspects later.
