ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Book lovers got to meet an award winning author Monday night in Albany.

Renaissance Connection invited Dr. Ibram Kendi to sign copies of his book at the Albany Area Arts Council in downtown.

This month, Kendi took home the national book award for non-fiction for his book "Stamped from the beginning: The Definitive History or Racist Ideas in America."

"It really reorients how we think about race in America and provides some very concrete ways we can fix this long standing problem that we've had," explained Kendi.

Kendi won the National Book Award last week.

The book is available in bookstores across the country and online.
