GSP holds Trooper Run this December to benefit Toys For Tots

THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

Georgia State Patrol troopers are trying a creative way of collecting toys and money for kids in need this holiday season.

 Troopers at the Thomasville Post are hosting the Toys for Tots Trooper Run.

It includes a 5K race and a competition where teams will perform tasks like the seat belt challenge.

Organizers said they are excited for the event.

"I don't know of another officer course run that is designed like this. There is going to be several stations. All of them will be police themed in a positive manor," Travis Roberts, GSP Post 12.

The run is on December 3rd at 9am.

To sign up, you can bring an unopened toy and the $20.00 registration to Post 12.

    Here in Southwest Georgia the American Red Cross has been working the last couple of days to prepare for the storm.  The American Red Cross has been getting their relief supplies ready across the 19 county region.

    With Memorial Day around the corner, one Southwest Georgia military fraternity decided to host a blood drive in honor of fallen soldiers and to give back to the community.  Psi Delta Tau Military Fraternity Incorporated held the event at a neighborhood Wal-Mart to help those in need.
