ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Turkey Day is fast approaching and area grocers are preparing to see big crowds this week.
Ken Wicker Vice President of Operations for Harvey's Supermarket says they've been preparing for the holiday for months.
"We'll have a dedicated staff at all of the Harvey's stores to help our customers find everything they need," Wicker said.
Wicker told WALB News 10 that he expects to be busy throughout the next few weeks as customers prepare for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Harvey's Supermarkets have recently been revamped just in time for the holiday season.
The store recently unveiled a new dollar zone and lowered the prices of nearly 3,000 items.
"We have all the Thanksgiving favorites at great prices across Harvey's. We have the sweet potatoes and collard greens. We have great prices on turkeys," Wicker said.
But whether you shop at Harvey's or another area supermarket, you could be paying less for your holiday meal.
According to the American Farm Bureau Federation, the average cost for a table of 10 is $49.87. That price is down from last year's cost which was set at $50.11.
The price of turkeys are down as well. Customers are paying around 30-cents less than they were last year.
Harvey's Supermarkets will be open on Thanksgiving until 4:00 p.m.
