ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
The Georgia Firebirds held their first open tryout of the fall this weekend.
Around 30 athletes came out to run drills and be evaluated for the National Arena League team.
The Firebirds only have a dozen players signed, and are looking to have a roster of 40 for training camp.
That leaves 28 spots to fill in the coming months.
"I'm looking for guys who are enthusiastic about playing football. You can't come in worrying about money," said head coach Antwone Savage. "You're just coming in to get you some film to move up to the next level whether it be Canadian Football or the NFL. (We're looking for) Guys who are hungry, young guys. We are looking for veterans, but if you are a veteran you got to be a guy who knows the game. I'm not trying to teach an old guy how to play arena football.":
