DOUGHERTY CO., GA (WALB) - Schools in Dougherty County came together to unite students and parents starting in pre-K all the way up to high school.
All of the Southside Schools -- Monroe, Southside, Alice Coachman, Morningside, MLK, and Lamar Reese enjoyed an afternoon together as part of their community day.
Vendors and food were set up.
Special entertainment and various performing groups from all of the schools performed.
"We wanted to show the families that we care about their students and their children. We wanted them to come out and enjoy the principals, the teachers, anyone that works in our school," said Frederick Polite, Southside Middle School Principal.
School officials agreed that the message was simple. They are all in this together.
"Bring our families together for them to see the strength in our pipeline. We are all networked together, from the elementary school to the middle school, up to the high school. And that those conversations are strong," said Vinson Davis, Monroe Comp. High School Principal.
More than 200 people came out and officials all say the day was a success.
