Valdosta subdivision evacuated after chlorine leak

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

A Valdosta neighborhood had to be evacuated after reports of a chlorine leak. Lowndes County Fire Rescue responded to the scene.

According to officials, the leak originated from the private water system that services the Lochwinn subdivision.

Fire rescue officials called on the assistance of Valdosta Fire Department's hazmat truck.

The worker that discovered the leak had a little exposure and was transported as a precaution.

Residents in the subdivision were evacuated and should be able to return within the hour.
