SYLVESTER, GA (WALB) -

The Village Community Garden officially opened up Friday afternoon on Paulk Street in Sylvester.

Fort Valley State University donated aeroponics equipment while 4-H students grew collard greens, kale, cabbage, and other produce to get handed out to the community.

"I am a professional artist and I wanted to see what happened when you mix art and farming together and kind of fuse it together and we want to create here in this garden a sculpture that will actually feed the people," said Sam X. White, Village Community Garden Co-Founder.

Officials gave out food Friday and will hand out seafood Saturday starting at 11 a.m.
