THOMAS CO., GA (WALB) -

Students in Thomas County took a step back in time.

They celebrated Pioneer day at Garrison Pilcher Elementary.

Students churned butter, saw animals important during pioneer times, and looked at civil war artifacts.

They even got to experience how men used to shave.

Teachers plan to keep this popular annual tradition going for many more.

"I think the kids today, are so full of technology. Its a fast paced life, you throw your kids in the backseat with chicken nuggets. Its important for kids to know where things come from," said Donna Taylor, Teacher.

Students told us they look forward to the event every year.
