ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Georgia Department of Public Safety held a job fair on Thursday in Albany, looking to hire more troopers and motor carrier compliance officers.
There is a shortage of public safety troopers and officers, especially in the Southwest Georgia region.
So on Monday, the state put out the word that they are looking for good men and women, who want to make Georgia roads safer.
"Our core beliefs in the Georgia State Patrol is empathy and compassion. We are looking for people who care about the community and about the local people," said Sgt. 1st Class John Vanlandingham with Georgia State Patrol.
"We're looking for post certified employees with at least two years experience. It's not a qualification, it's just a preference. But self motivated, and willing to work," said Motor Carrier Officer 2 Chris Carlisle with the Motor Carrier Compliance Division.
