ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A woman who has served the SOWEGA Council on Aging for nearly a half century is preparing to retire.

Executive Director Kay Hind turned 86 Wednesday.

She's spent the last 49 years working to improve the lives of seniors in south Georgia.

She'll retire from the Council on Aging on March 31st.

"I'd like to go down to the beach a few days," said Hind. "Go to the mountains a few days. I haven't had the time to do that because I thought I couldn't leave. I could've left but once you get over-committed, you don't want to leave."

Hind will help with the transition to ensure the council is in good hands when she leaves.
