ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Southeastern Grocers is donating over 1,000 turkeys to families in need this Thanksgiving season.

Wednesday afternoon, Harveys donated 100 of those turkeys to Second Harvest of South Georgia.

Second Harvest Marketing Director Eliza McCall said they do not usually receive turkeys during the holidays, so this donation is incredibly gratifying.

"It means that 100 families in our area are going to be able to enjoy the holiday with a sense of normalcy that we take for granted," said McCall.

Ken Wicker, the Harveys Regional Vice President of Operations, said, "Southeastern Grocers understands that the turkey is the centerpiece for many families' holiday meal, so we are very proud to be able to provide that to families in need."

Southeastern Grocers includes Harveys, Winn Dixie, and BI-LO.
