AMERICUS, GA (WALB) - Another warning about fire danger because of the drought.
Most cities have ordinances banning burning.
Americus firefighters remind residents that is the case there.
They said they'll give out tickets, not warnings, if they catch any violators.
"They need to be taking it seriously and because it don't take but just a spark to start a big fire," said Americus Fire Department Chief Allen Erkhart.
Americus firefighters have had to put out several brush fires likely started by people dropping cigarettes.
They encourage people to report any illegal burning they see.
