TIFTON, GA (WALB) - A house in Tifton is awarded the first historic landmark recognition for the city.
A marker now designates the Fulwood Garden Center as a historic landmark for Tifton.
The house is dedicated in memory of Paul D and Ruth Vickers Fulwood.
The Fulwood family played a major role in bringing agricultural development and the "plant farm business" to Tifton.
The house was originally constructed in 1914 and has been preserved by the Garden Club.
We like to think that we are here for the community, for their availability and utilization for whatever their need may be," said Virginia Pennington, President.
The garden club is encouraging other buildings in Tifton to apply for the historic landmark grant.
