ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A new CDC report shows 40 percent of all cancers are linked to tobacco use.

Cigarette smoking causes three in 10 cancer deaths.

The Southwest Public Health District is working on preventive efforts to keep schools tobacco free.

"That helps to eliminate second hand exposure to tobacco, to smoke. And also for people who are smoking we try to educate them and help them to quit smoking," said DPH Tobacco Prevention Coodinator Ebonee Kirkwood.

The state has a resource called the "Georgia Quit Line."
