TERRELL CO., GA (WALB) - Quail hunting season opened today in South Georgia. Piney Creek Plantation in Dawson hosts folks from all over the world.
A group from the Bahamas put their skills to the test Monday.
They say they look forward to their trip to South Georgia each year, and the plantation owner says he's happy the season has kicked off, and is hoping the weather starts to cooperate.
"It's been great. It's a lot better than back home to put it that way," said Anthony Thompson from Nassau, Bahamas.
"We are very excited about the season. We are needing some rain and cold weather, but other than that, we are ready to go hunting," said Piney Creek Plantation Owner, Allen Ingram.
Allen says he's hoping for some frost soon so the air will clear, and the dogs will do a better job sniffing the birds.
This hunting season lasts through February 28th.
