ATLANTA, GA (WALB) - You're about to hear the expression "Click It or Ticket" a lot in the coming days.
The Governor's Office of Highway Safety to make sure all motorists are buckled up, as we move into the busiest travel time of the year.
The Click It Or Ticket a Thanksgiving tradition period starts today and runs through November 27.
"Almost half of the people who died in traffic crashes last Thanksgiving were not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash," said Harris Blackwood, GOHS Director. "That's why here in Georgia, because we share our borders with five other states, we warn residents and visitors alike to click it or ticket. We want everyone to get home safe, but all violators will be pulled over."
During the 2014 Thanksgiving travel period, 341 people were killed in traffic crashes nationwide. Fifty percent of those killed were not wearing seat belts.
