ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Advocacy Resource Center in Albany has a vision to keep athletes healthy and happy.
Saturday, people gathered to kick a little red ball and raise money while honoring one of their own.
Chuck McGarity was an active member of the Albany ARC Special Olympics Program.
He passed away two years ago.
The Albany ARC Special Olympics program aims to enable those with disabilities to improve their physical health and mental well-being.
Their 2nd annual kickball tournament honored Chuck and showed how a competition can bring people, of all abilities, together.
"Someone with a disability is just a person. They are a person with likes and dislikes. Just like us," said the McGarity family.
The ARC chose kickball because it's a physical activity.
These activities help individuals maintain good physical and mental health.
