WARNER ROBINS, GA (WALB) -

A middle Georgia native with ties to south Georgia is on the way to stardom, one song at a time.

Kiandra Richardson is a singer from Warner Robins. She's currently a part of a play where she plays the role of the legendary Whitney Houston.

Before landing the role she had a golden ticket to Hollywood during the final season of American Idol, but a phone call from gospel singer BeBe Winans changed her path.

"And BeBe said you cannot go to Idol you have to come and do this show. I see something in you that I saw in Whitney Houston and I need you to do this show," said Richardson.

The play "Born This Way" is about the life of BeBe Winans.

You can hear more of Kiandra's story on Sunday morning's episode of Dialogue on WALB-NBC at 9:30 a.m. and WALB-ABC at 10 a.m.
