AMERICUS, GA (WALB) -
An Americus-Sumter football player is being honored with sideline passes to a Falcons game for his work as a student athlete.
The Falcons chose Eric Brown as the Atlanta Falcons Power Player this week.
His 3.8 GPA and excellent performance for the Americus-Sumter Panthers earned him the honor.
Only eight athletes are chosen per year, and the winner leads the team out of the tunnel for a home game.
Brown described his recipe for success, which doesn't always include his handy football helmet.
"Work hard in the classroom first because academics come first," said Brown. "Then come to practice, work hard, give everybody encouragement and pick everybody up."
His head coach Erik Soliday said Brown was more than deserving.
"I've been here two years," reminded Soliday. "But in the two years I've been here, I've seen the extreme hard work he does not only on the field playing football, but in the classroom and everywhere else."
Brown will be officially honored by the Falcons at the November 27th home game against the Arizona Cardinals.
