With a 5-2 record in the Peach Belt, the Blazers lost their shot at a conference title.
But the division II playoffs are still in play, and there's only one team in the way.
Valdosta State will host a winless Shorter University team this Saturday at Bazemore-Hyder
A victory would secure them the No. 3 ranking in the Division II Super Regional 2 polls.
And that ranking would translate into the playoffs.
The Blazers are winners of 6 of their last 7 games, and have been in win or go home mode since last week's victory at West Alabama.
"We always talk here about the process," said head coach Kerwin Bell. "Now there's an expectation level. We established that last week, how to prepare for the playoffs. This is another playoffs 'do or die' situation, and that's the way we're going into the game with that idea."
VSU is seeking its 5th straight win in its series against Shorter.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 pm Saturday.
