ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Part of a south Albany street has a new name as of Wednesday afternoon.
The city officially renamed a portion of South Carroll Street, South Nolan street after a family who has owned multiple properties there since 1962.
"My youngest brother lives in my momma's house, my oldest brother lives across the street," said Jesse Nolan. "And I live in the next house and another brother down the street. So we're all back in the hood, and we have a lot of memories here."
"They had a great story, they had issues with EMS, they know they wanted to change the name," said city of Albany transportation planner Kerrie Davis. "But the idea and the thought that they had been here so long made it kind of a no-brainer."
The city changed the name because first-responders were having trouble finding the area.
Carroll street ends near Oglethorpe Boulevard.
Now Nolan picks up south of Oglethorpe.
