CORDELE, GA (WALB) - A man accused of trying to shoot a Crisp County deputy Tuesday night is now in jail.

David Carter, 56, has been charged with aggravated assault on a peace officer among other charges.

Cordele police said he pulled a gun on a Crisp County deputy inside the Gas N Go on 16th Avenue and attempted to fire, but the gun malfunctioned.

The deputy tased Carter during a struggle and got the gun away from him.

Both of them suffered minor injuries.
