ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The jury has the case of 22-year-old Jawaski Kennedy, who is on trial on 26 counts of murder, aggravated assault and street gang terrorism in a drive by shooting that left William Davis Junior and Desmond Williams dead.
He's one of five men associated with the Westside Rattlers gang who prosecutors say fired as many as 50 shots on Willard Avenue at the homes of Southside Bloods gang members in 2013.
The jury asked to hear a recording related to the case, and a definition of malice. They took a lunch break about noon.
Investigators said an earlier shooting may have led to the violence. The lead detective told jurors that one of the other defendants was treated in the hospital earlier that day for a gunshot wound after an altercation with members of the Southside Bloods.
The detective also testified about finding shell casings in a car belonging to the girlfriend of one defendant.
The other four suspects will be tried later.
