Injured Peach Co. deputy passes away

BYRON, GA (WALB) -

The Crisp County Sheriff's Office reported via Facebook Tuesday that Peach County Deputy Daryl Smallwood, who was a former Crisp County deputy, died.

Deputy Smallwood was shot Sunday night while responding to a dispute between neighbors in Byron.

Peach County Sgt. Patrick Sondron was shot as well. Sgt. Sondron died Sunday.

The following is the quote from the Crisp County Sheriff's Office Facebook page regarding Deputy Smallwood: 

"It is with great sadness and a heavy heart, that as the Sheriff of Crisp County, I confirm the passing of the second Peach County deputy that was shot in the line of duty on Sunday. Both officers responded to a call in reference to a dispute between neighbors, at which time they were both shot. Sgt. Sondron died Sunday night and former Crisp County Deputy Daryl Smallwood sucummed to his injuries today at Navicient Health in Macon. Please be in prayer for all of the families involved, including their law enforcement families."
