Solar energy is growing, and anyone in Thomas County wanting to install a solar system will now have to wait until May to do so.

THOMAS CO., GA (WALB) - Last month, the county placed a 30 day moratorium on solar installations.

Tuesday, the county commissioners extended that moratorium.

County leaders said they need more time to establish policies.

"A big thing for concern, is the need for setback, how much setback will they have on the property. Another thing is that, there is two separate considerations for solar is the solar farms and then the individual, residential and commercial uses," said Mike Stephenson, County Manager

County leaders said they received a good number of calls asking about solar installations which prompted them to look into getting policies in place.
