ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Dozens of Albany State University students came out to hear spoken word poetry on Monday.

Five different poets are discussing several themes during ASU's 10th annual poetry festival.

Monday night's poetry reading encouraged students to imagine a poem as a place where several voices come together.

"You read a poem, you read a piece of literature, you know you hear a song you love. And it can change the way you think about relating to other people. And so it's not necessarily the poem in it of itself that transforms the world but it's people who read poem," said Douglass Kearney.

The festival runs through Tuesday.

Here are a list of tomorrow's events:

10-11 am, ASU Student Center Ballroom, "The Poem is Seen from All sides, Everywhere, At Once": Dramatic Poetry Readings

11-12 pm, ASU Student Center Ballroom, Poetry Performance
