ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Governor Nathan Deal expressed concern about the drought that's battering the state.
He said that residents should be careful about burns and burning permits.
Deal said it's important to use common sense during such dry conditions.
And the importance of following state and local restrictions on water, like watering your lawn or washing your car.
"We have to demonstrate that we're willing to make the sacrifices for the sake of the good of everybody and that's probably what we're going to see unless this drought is relieved very soon," said Deal.
Governor Deal said he may escalate the drought status since the state hasn't seen much relief.
Residents should expect more restrictions in the coming weeks.
