ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The people in charge of Lake Loretta in Northwest Albany are looking for donations to help them keep the lake full.
The ongoing drought has the lake at one of the lowest points neighbors can remember.
The Lake Park Recreation Club runs the private lake and usually funds it through fishing licenses.
Now, they've had to turn on their pump to fill the lake, and that comes at a high cost.
They hope the community will help keep the lake healthy.
"We're just making a plea for money to start with, but we're probably going to have a festival out here or something in the next few months, maybe a run was suggested," said Roger Marietta, a member of the Lake Park Recreation Club.
Officials said that they need to keep the lake levels normal to protect the fish and geese.
Donations can be sent to the Lake Park Recreation Club at P.O. Box 70924, Albany, Ga. 31708.
