ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Jury selection is underway in the murder trial of an accused gang member, charged with killing two Albany men in a 2013 drive-by shooting.

Jawaski Kennedy, 22, has been charged with 26 counts of murder and aggravated assault, as well as street gang terrorism.

Prosecutors said that on March 17th, 2013 five members of the Westside Rattlers gang, including Kennedy, fired as many as 50 shots on Willard Avenue at homes of reputed Southside Blood gang members.

William Davis, Jr. and Desmond Williams were killed.

Prosecutors hoped to prosecute all five defendants in one murder trial, but attorney scheduling problems made them try Kennedy alone.

The other four are expected to stand trial later.
