MILLER CO., GA (WALB) - Miller County officials said that the sheriff facing federal charges is still on the ballot for next week's election.
Wesley Shane Rathel, 42, was arrested Friday by the FBI, accused of selling stolen firearms.
Probate Judge Brenda McNesse said as of Monday, Rathel has not resigned and the governor hasn't issued an order to remove him from office.
Rathel is running unopposed in next week's election.
If he's convicted, Rathel faces 10 years in prison, and a $250,000 fine and would not be able to serve as sheriff.
