ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Only one suspect is going to trial right now for the March 17, 2013 drive by shooting that left two twenty year old men dead on Albany's southside.
Jawaski Kennedy is standing trial in Albany for the drive-by shooting murders of William Davis and Desmond Williams, both 20, who were killed after about 50 shots were fired from a moving car.
The other suspects are having to wait so that their attorneys can schedule their trials, because of court scheduling conflicts.
Harrell Lorenzo Hicks, aka Harrell Lawrence Junior, Maurice Jimmerson, and Desmond Warren all face felony murder, aggravated assault, and firearms charges.
Davis and Williams were shot and killed were were standing outside a gray Crown Victoria at 514 Willard Avenue when the shots were fired.
A third person, 22-year-old Nicholas Wright, was sitting inside that same vehicle, but was able to dodge the bullets and get away unharmed.
Days later, a prayer vigil was held and more than 100 people gathered at a lot on the corner of South Madison Street and Gaines Avenue to pray for the family of William Davis, Jr. and Desmond Williams.
Police had trouble getting witnesses to talk about the shootings, and eventually, rewards for information reached $5,000 in this case.
