ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
The Georgia Firebirds are bringing familiar faces back to Albany. After recently joining the Arena Development League, the Firebirds are retooling their roster.
Former Albany Panthers receiver John Harris is now officially a Georgia Firebird.
Most recently he played wideout for the Columbus Lions, a team that defeated the Firebirds twice last year thanks to his explosive plays.
The former Americus High receiver said relationships fueled his return to South Georgia.
He's excited to play for Antwone Savage, who was his teammate and mentor when they were both Panthers.
"Just to get the opportunity to play football with your brothers again," said Harris. "Its not about football to us its bigger to football to us, we're more like a family. To get the opportunity to play where we started at, we're (going) to have fun."
Harris is the first of the Firebirds new signees.
Savage hinted fans may see more familiar faces making the return to the civic center next season.
