TIFTON, GA (WALB) - Harvey's Supermarket in Tifton has reported more than half a dozen people coming in and saying they got a text message from the government telling them they won money.
The text messages sent to people were from info.gov. They are telling people to go collect a certain amount of money from Harvey's Supermarket or Western Union.
By clicking on the text message or replying, you could be giving the system behind the scam access to your phone records and private information.
"When you feed into it, you're just giving them more information about you and your family members and relatives. It's just getting worse," said scam victim Moses Frazier.
Officials want to urge people to not reply to text messages they may get if they are out of the ordinary.
They also say to not go to the location it tells you to go to, and to keep all information online and over the phone as private as possible.
