ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

An Albany State University fraternity is raising breast cancer awareness.

Phi Beta Sigma fraternity held its annual breast cancer forum on Thursday night.

ASU faculty member and breast cancer survivor Katherine Laster shared her story with students.

Members said its important to educate their peers on the topic.

"You never know what anyone has gone through so just in case, God forbid for anything in the future does happen like that you would know what to do by hearing a testimony," said organizer Adolphus Maddox.

Phi Beta Sigma members said events like Thursday's forum play a big role in the mission of the organization to serve and inform their community.
