LEESBURG, GA (WALB) -

Hundreds of people gathered in Leesburg Wednesday night for the 4th annual '4th Street Trunk or Treat' put on by Leesburg United Methodist Church and First Baptist Church.

Members decorated their trunks and handed out candy to kids.

There were also games, food and entertainment.

Organizers say it's a safe and positive Halloween option for families.

"It's a way for them to come out and enjoy an alternative to Halloween in safe place. We're open until 8 p-m so parents who are working until like 5:30 or 6 o'clock they can come now and have the kids enjoy an evening of food, fun, fellowship," said Leesburg United Methodist Church Neal Folger.

The churches also collected canned goods for the local food pantry.
