ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Remember the first time you exercised your right to vote?

Two weeks before election day, 20 students shared that special experience.

Students at Paxen Learning have been learning about the political process in their accelerated GED program.

Many of them registered just a few months ago and say they now understand how important is to vote.

They watched the debates with their instructors and even went through a sample ballot before heading to the polls Tuesday.

"Ever since they brought us down here to actually register, I've been trying to watch the debates on who I would like to vote for so I actually knew who I wanted going in," said Jameshia Gardner.

The Paxen Learning center provides accelerated GED programs to help young adults earn their GED within 35 days.

Gardner was able to get hers in just 28.
