TERRELL CO., GA (WALB) - Less than two weeks from election day and the race is on for the Terrell County commission chairman.
The two candidates are Larry Faust Sr. and Wilbur T Gamble III.
The name Gamble is familiar to many folks.
His father was the previous chairman and the longest serving county chairman in the state of Georgia.
His son said he wants to be sure his father's position is filled by the right person.
As a local attorney for the past 24 years, Gamble says he believes it is important to have someone like himself as chairman, who is familiar with negotiating deals and can be a good representation for the county.
Gamble says he thinks it's important to encourage industries to come to South Georgia.
"I want to be the spokesperson that says we are proud of Terrell County and instead of apologizing for being from Terrell County we want to say come do business here and let folks know that Terrell County is open for business," said Gamble.
Gamble said he already has a 120-day plan.
He said that will include a meeting with Governor Deal, who he says he knows personally.
WALB did reach out to Gamble's opponent Larry Faust, but have not been able to get in touch with him.
As soon as we do, we will speak with him.
