Congratulations to all who were responsible for the recent Centennial Celebration of Albany's Municipal Auditorium and to all who helped to celebrate 100 years of the artistic, cultural, and historical significance of Albany's treasure!
The Auditorium fell into a state of disrepair but was renovated and restored at a cost of $4.1 million in the 1980's.
Music filled the air during a Black Tie Gala concert in 1990, featuring Ray Charles and the Albany Symphony orchestra!
Since then, the Auditorium has continued to serve as host to the Albany Symphony Orchestra, dance, theater, and other internationally-known performers.
This past weekend, a celebration which included music of all genres, dance, and the recognition of Unsung Heroes in Arts, Culture, and History, brought a cross section of southwest Georgians together once again to remind us all of us just how important this jewel is to our community.
