MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) -

A woman who robbed a Moultrie convenience store with what is believed to be a steak knife is behind bars.

Police say Barbara Louise Mullis walked into "Amber's Again" on South Main Street in Moultrie around six o'clock last Thursday night.

Investigators say she threatened the clerk with a knife, while apologizing for what she was doing.

Mullis had shopped at the store before.

She's charged with armed robbery and possession of a knife.

"I think this was a one time isolated incident with this young lady and I am not aware of what dire situation she may be in but obviously she was in some sort of dire strait," said Major Tonero Bender.

With the holiday season coming up, the Moultrie Police Department wants to remind business owners that they are willing to help protect themselves.

If you give them a call, they will send someone to help evaluate your business security plan.
